22 October Instituut voor de Tropen

Hurray, an event about chocolate. Mark this date Saturday 22 October, then you can go to the Instituut voor de Tropen  for the Origin Chocolate Event. Delicious, chocolate, for me it cannot be dark enough.

Healthy?

Of course, I the first ask myself the question; is chocolate healthy or not? According to InfoNu.nl, both people who say that it is healthy as people who claim that it is unhealthy are right. It mainly depends on the type of chocolate. How much darker, the healthier. Well this is at least something I’m doing right :-)! The method of production is also off major influence on the health effects of chocolate. Chocolate turns out to contain different healthy substances and qualities, such as; magnesium, anandamine, flavanoids and resvervatrol. Visit the site , here you can find a lot of information on this topic.

According to the organizers of the event, condition, quality, sustainability and direct trade of cocoa beans are priority at origin chocolate. There is as much possible direct trade with the cocoa farmers and with the least possible intermediaries. They want to ensure that all parties get a fair share of the revenue.

A good chocolate is like a fine wine. Location, climate and knowledge of the farmer, are determining factors for the taste of the cocoa and therefore for the chocolate. And just like with grapes at wine, every cocoa kind has its own specific flavor characteristics.

The Origin Chocolate Event offers many different activities. If you are interested in and go crazy for really good chocolate, then this is something for you.
