Migraine Week

A what? Yes, really, on 1 and 2 September a  Pop up Migraine Shop can be found in The Pipe in the Gerard Doustraat. The shop is opened within the framework of the annual Migraine Week. This year from 1 to 7 September.

Did you know that in the Netherlands an estimated 2 to 2.5 million adults suffer from Migraines? According to the site Migraine Week even 3.1 million or 1 in 5 people in the Netherlands. You probably know someone or you are one of those who suffer from it? With the message ‘Migraine is more than headaches. Talk about it with your doctor, pharmacist or druggist’ the initiators ask attention for this disease and possible solutions.

By the way, the initiators of this week are; the Migrainefonds (Migraine Fund), the Nederlandse Vereniging van Hoofdpijnpatiënten (Dutch Association of headache patients) and GSK Consumer Healthcare company.

Pop up Migraine Shop

In the Pop up Migraine Shop, you can, among other things. experience some symptoms of migraine with a virtual reality glasses some symptoms of migraine and do a migraine self-test.

The pop up shop is one of the first Dutch pop up shops around an illness and is open for two days. It’s open from 11:00 to 18:00 a clock for:

o by using a virtual reality glasses experience some symptoms of migraines, including sensitivity too light and sound, disorientation and aura;

o a migraine self-test;

o an exhibition with photos from the ‘ Migraine registry “of the New York artist Lorie Novak;

o an extensive programme of events.

In the programme of events leading neurologists and scientists share the latest knowledge and insights in the field of migraines. In addition, there is a mindfulness workshop on the program and there are foot-and chair massages. All activities and program components are for free.
