Do you want a responsible lunch on a terrace by the water, in the beautiful surroundings of the Plantage and Artis Zoo? Then I know a great place for you.
In the Plantagebuurt (buurt = area), just behind Artis, just over the picturesque bridge “De Nijlpaard” you will find “BLOEM eten en drinken (food and drinks)”. At Bloem everything is 100% organic, this means that not only the ingredients of all dishes have the organic EKO quality label, but also all the drinks. Nice to know; They make their own delicious bread. You can find the quality label at the bar!
Restaurant Bloem
At restaurant Bloem you can enjoy lunch and dinner. You can see the menu cards in advance on and download them from the website (available in English). Reservation is advisable. The interior is basic and you can sit nicely downstairs as well as upstairs (vide).
The lovely terrace has sun until sunset. If it’s too hot outside, the parasols are opened. Lunch or dinner on the water, with right next to the terrace a pier where you can moor your boat. The opening hours of Bloem are every day from 11:00 to 22:00.
After a walk
Personally I love to make a walk on Sunday in the Plantagebuuurt, and then just settle down on this excellent terrace for a drink or a cup of coffee with delicious Frozen Raspberry/Banana cake with coconut, walnut and date (vegan and gluten free), yummy!!! The sounds of some monkeys and the sea lions in the background are a nice (but this is something you must like of course).
In short, a highly recommended place, especially now the sun is shining regular (I hope) and the terrace is open!
