Let’s meet at The Meets
On and around the Cornelis Troostplein it’s changing quite a bit lately. By the way, for the better, because the more fun spots to eat and drink, the better! There is a new little gem, that you really should visit; The Meets. A wonderful, cozy and healthy shop where you’re welcome from early in the morning until late in the evening. Here they cook, with local – and where possible organic – products. Free from added sugars and other additions we neither need nor want. Furthermore, they use the 80/20 rule: 80% vegetable, 20% meat. Perfect for vegetarians or those who are looking for a healthy meal!
Quote: “Here, wholesome meets lekker (tasty), meets fun, meets you and the neighbours, meets day, meets night.”
On the menu of The Meets are three breakfasts, good sandwiches for lunch, or a veggie or beef burger, soups, salads, main dishes, sides, snacks and sweets. Too many to mention. But to help to find your way: the mezze platter (with falafel, hummus, kale salad, Baba Ganoush, sauerkraut and a pita bread) is really to feast on. Also try: the nori rolls with raw vegetables, crispy tempeh and peanut ginger sauce. Founder Nicolien and I saw these at the entrance in the showcase and spontaneously started mouthwatering. Or, or, or: try the beetroot balls! Dutch bitterballen (typical Dutch snack, kind of small round croquettes), but then filled with beet. And save some room for dessert, especially the avocado lime pie, everyone is talking about. This one I couldn’t try myself yet-because bomblet full after an extended lunch, juices and coffee-but admit it: a cake of avocado and lime mousse, with a crust of toasted sunflower seeds … that really sounds too good to pass by?
